[revived] Adventure Island - Create Your Own Adventure

Post by Entity »

Adventure Island Create Your Own Adventure I've been working on this game for the past few years, and it's finally nearing completion. It's not quite finished, but I think I'm close enough to announce it and let people sign up for the beta.

What is Adventure Island?
Adventure Island is a multiplayer text-based adventure game. However, unlike most text-based adventure games you may have played, Adventure Island does not have a set storyline. Instead, the story and gameplay are defined by you and your friends as you play and explore the infinite world.

How much does it cost?
The game itself is free. However if you want a world of your own, it will cost a cheap monthly fee.

What do I need to play?
Any operating system that supports Java should work!

Where do I download it?
Well it's not actually finished yet, but like I said, it's really close! You can register your account (and secure your username) by clicking the link at the bottom of the post. In the next few weeks, I'll be sending you an e-mail with a link to the download!
Click here to sign up for the Beta After signing up, don't forget to fill out this form if you want beta access! http://goo.gl/forms/URTCg4LWnW

Even though it's only for windows and I have Mac, signed up! (EDIT: Oh yeah, i remembered i have an old PC laying around)
BTW is it just a regular console application? If so, it can really easily be ported to the mac.

Yes f(r)ee.
All you have to pay for is if you want to have your own server... I think.

Yes, that is correct! And there will be an official server, so if you don't have any cash you can still play :) (also, if certain people think it's cool enough, maybe OneMoreBlock can host a server? idk, just a thought)

Also, no, it's not just a console :/ I'm planning on completely rewriting it to be cross platform eventually.

Eventually. :P

OH I DISAPPEARED. Back now tho heh.

I haven't abandoned this project, and I will it eventually (promise!). But for now it's on hold... for a bunch of reasons :P

I guess the main reason was it was a super ambitious project, especially for one dude. It was pretty poorly constructed (I started working on it ages ago, and the code is pretty messy...), and WHEN (not if) I come back to this project I'm going to rewrite it from scratch in a cross-platform language (probably Java :) ).

yeah but if the game isn't really meant for 3D, java might be a better choice.
