But they go out-dated much faster than consoles. Buy a £500 gaming PC and it will be worth £480 the next day.
You could still just upgrade the hardware. You can't do something like that with consoles.

I would be more active as a PC gamer, but the truth is, I find that a lot of games control more practically on console controllers.

You can map any controller to a PC gaming experience.

True, but if a game is optimized for an analog stick that can go in any direction, I'd rather not be restricted to eight directions. This is why a lot of people didn't like the DS version of Super Mario 64.

Can you rephrase that? I don't understand what you mean by eight directions.

What I think he means is that most joysticks on modern controllers are limited to 8 directions since the cut out is like this:

And analog sticks can go any direction, meaning the cut out for where the joystick is, is circular.

Well, arrow keys only allow you to move in the eight directions that are specifically pinpointed on a compass. Y'know, north, northeast, east, southeast, etc.. An analog stick gives you more middle ground.

Hopefully that was understandable enough. :3

However, as an alternative, most PC games only need "W" to move forward, and the mouse to look around.

Oh...really? Most PC games I've played required me to use the arrow keys...

I must have misinterpreted Sebane's post...I thought he meant that that was how you moved in a PC game.

Plus, there are a ton more actions you can map to buttons on a keyboard.
