Yeah I saw SteamOS early on. It's weird, just yesterday I was using steam's horrible (imo) Big Picture mode and I thought it'd be cool to fix that up and put it on something to hook up to the TV. It'd be great to play all those games on the big screen. Yeah, you can do it just hooking up your computer via HDMI or something like that, but it would be nice having a native experience.

As for the other 2 announcements, I have no idea but I can't wait to know what they're working on. I'm kinda hoping on Portal 3 though. I really love those games :P

But since it's /livingroom I'm thinking it'll just be Steam making the big move for either consoles or something like that. Can't wait to know!

I doubt that this will be the case personally. Steam works great on PC, but that kind of setup is just not suitable for consoles.

Personally, I think a Portal 3 would be a nice surprise.

I absolutely LOVE this:
Can I hack this box? Run another OS? Change the hardware? Install my own software? Use it to build a robot?
Sure.
And they're not REALLY custom PCs... It's more like a console than anything else IMO. Like they put it, Steam Machines.

Also, I like the fact that they're releasing the source code for SteamOS and that kind of goes with the quote at the beginning of this post. That means that if there's something I don't like, I can just go in and change it to my liking. Brilliant.

Well, they are more PCs than consoles. EG you can modify the hardware without voiding the online status, install mods, put your own OS on it etc.

While I have always been more biased toward consoles than PC, I do think that current consoles could learn a thing or two from what Valve is doing with this.

:O
It's either going to be some exclusive games(along with source 2), or a new controller.

Announcement 3:

STEAM CONTROLLER!
It looks reeeeaaaaalllyy odd...
Spoiler
Image
First time I see a controller without a joystick.
Anyways, I'm actually reeeaallly excited about this. Also a good thing is that with the Steam Box you can still use any other controller and even mouse/keyboard if you wish.
This is great.

Also, I just noticed that [O____] does kind of look like a console and O+O does look like a controller. Kinda neat, huh?

I've seen controllers without joysticks, (NES anyone?) but not one without a D-pad...

It's an interesting concept, but I don't think you can play an FPS on it.

I've heard a lot of people think Steam is the best way to play an FPS, so that's a bit ironic...

That, and the 'Piston' steambox has a pricetag of $1000
I do hope the other models are cheaper.

Yeah but like I told you on Skype, Valve essentially left all the lead to the Piston project to Xi3 because It wasn't what Valve wanted for the SteamBox. These will probably be entirely different, judging from the piston' spastic events...
