Windows 8- Is It As Bad As People Say It Is?
Okay, so today I upgraded to windows 8 (There's some apps I need for live shows). I was expecting what people had said, a clunky, hard to use UI with no catering for non-touch users. I was proven wrong.
Seriously, windows 8 is nowhere NEAR as bad as people say it is. It does take some getting used to, but after that it's pretty much just windows 7 with a fancy start menu.
Anyway, discuss!

Win 8 is finePhantomboy wrote:I have been interested in it, if it comes time for me to get a new laptop or desktop I will likely be getting Windows 8 as it is the newest on the market. Let us know if you run into any compatibility issues, or such! I would be kind of nice to know what to expect
8.1 is a bit dodgy at the moment.

In all honestly, I don't blame you.Newah wrote:(sorry, filled with prejudice)
To be totally honest, I genuinely think Windows 8 is completely deserving of every ounce of hate it gets. My Aunt has a Windows 8 tablet, and W8 works very well on it. On my laptop though, I find it to be utterly appalling. Constantly switching between the desktop and metro is beyond disorienting, not to mention that it's noticeably slower than Windows 7 (well...for me at least...). I was hoping Windows 8.1 would fix these issues, but it looks pretty much exactly the same.
I find the whole "Tablet + PC" thing was very poorly thought out and even more poorly executed. I think I speak for most Windows users when I say that.
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline.

I've taken the jump to Windows 8.0. I got tired of my extremely flaky Windows 7 install and no longer have a Windows 7 disc. I'm wanting to jump ahead on Windows 8.1, but will hold off until I know for sure compatibility issues are fixed.
In the meantime, I have a ton of stuff to re-install.
