Apple Purchased Microsoft's Kinect Collaborator

Post by Sebastian Lawe »

So, it turns out Microsoft didn't actually own the company that invented the technology used in the Kinect sensor, and Apple has now purchased it.

Hmm, I doubt this means they will be entering the game market. However, I think we could very likely see sensors of some kind end up in future Apple products. Now, I hardly use Apple products - but as a person generally interested in technology, I could imagine being able to visually interact with you computer may be nice for some people :) I could see perhaps holding up a single finger in a "one-second" gesture could pause a video call, or perhaps waving could activate/deactivate your webcam. Exciting stuff even if I am not the main recipient.

It would definitely be cool to see sensors of some kind in Apple's future products. I'm amazed they haven't done that yet.

Considering they already send everything you say to SIRI to their databases, I wouldn't trust apple with a sensor.

Uhh...yeah...Apple's probably not gonna be too happy about that...

Fair enough though. Sensors in Apple products wouldn't be so cool if they pulled a Microsoft and spied on you with them...

Microsoft was planning on spying with the new kinect? Please, they would have done that with the 360 already if that were the case.
