Atmosphir Lighting Mod

Post by Sebastian Lawe »

Hello peeps, I recently decided to check and see if the ENB Lighting mod worked with Atmosphir, and sure enough it did!
Only side effect, is that it also affects the GUI.

Will upload the mod and a pre-made config once I have things tweaked the best I can.

Like papaya said on discord, the shadows are nice but apart from that it just makes stuff look blurry

It's being worked on! :D

First image is with ENB, second is without:

There are a couple effects here:
  1. A bit of tonemapping, making the colors slightly more saturated;
  2. Bloom on very bright areas (e.g. the sky brightness "bleeds" into whats nearby, and the torches seem more bright)
  3. Ambient Occlusion, which makes those passive shadows on surfaces next to others (notably, the tent and the contours of the statue)
The UI doesn't look blurry because I disabled Depth of Field, which is an annoying effect to have on a platforming game. (or in my opinion: on any game)

Its the DOF effect, which can be enabled/disabled in the config.

My favorite thing about this is how objects in the distance are blurrier; i'd never thought about it before but it makes a lot of sense looking at it. this is just wishful thinking, but if it were tweakable via its own slider in the rulebook it'd be amazeballs

Unfortunately it's an external addon (it works by taking the output image of the game and working around that). If you wanted to tweak it for individual levels, you'd have to provide the download to the config file along with your level.

Oh, is that how it works? Just on the final image? I always assumed it worked off some sort of depth map as well

While the ENB mod outputs over the final image, it still knows whats going on 3D wise. Depth Bias is also a feature. It can take a far away island thats covered in fog, and shade it properly regardless. After all, it proxies all the draw calls and 3D drawing the game is doing.

Sebastian, when you do end up releasing it-- maybe a tutorial on using it would be a good idea! Because, whilst I can't speak for others, it does sound a little bit technical to me :P

EWWWW! Whose miserable excuse of a level is THAT?!?

But in all seriousness, this looks INCREDIBLE. I know it's probably wishful thinking, but if there were some way to do lighting like this in game, that'd be so freakin' awesome.
