Avatars And Trasparency

Post by EyceKubes »

A little problem I'm having is with avatars and the lack of support for transparency. I've tried my current avatar in multiple formats however the outside of it either turns black or white. So my conclusion is that is no support for transparency. Would it be possible to enable it? And if so, what file format should I use; I typically use .gif files for transparent images.

Before you give up, try using a png file, if you haven't already. That's what all the icons on the forum use, and many of them have transperancy, so I wouldn't be surprised if it worked.

If that doesn't work though, then no, Xenforo must not support it...

One thing I know is that .jpg files do not support transparency, .gifs do, but not many websites support their form of transparency. But png is perfect.

Transparent .GIF isn't a very commonly used format, as others above have said. I'd suggest trying .png

I guess try the .png, high quality and supports the transparent stuff.
Your avatar will be quite fancy once you get it working. :P

I'm assuming it's exactly the same as his current avatar, but without a white background :P

No it won't make you go the the ER. It's the same one but no white background, like what Adz said. Just got home, so I'm going to try it now.

EDIT: Alright I got something. My avatar is transparent, however, I realized that the forums have a black layer behind the avatar itself. Would it be possible to either change it to transparent or remove it completely?

Wow, that's weird. Good catch Hedlokd! But yes, this should certainly be removed.

I've had a quick play around with it, but haven't yet figured out how to fix it seamlessly

Thanks for trying so far! Would like to see it gone eventually. But if not... eh. It's not the end of the world :)

In Chrome, there should be a warning if you want to continue to install with "Continue" and "Discard" buttons. It will work if you activate the extension. The javascript file contains some minor CSS modifications for this site.
