Nintendo President Is Dead (rip Satoru Iwata)

On July 11th 2015 Satoru Iwata (Nintendos president) died from a bile duct growth.
He was only 55.

He contributed to many great games. Satoru will always be remembered in our hearts. At least shigiru myamoto is still alive.

Major condolences to Iwata's family, both his family at home and at the Nintendo headquarters. As I am certain he has become a close friend to so many and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace.

Even when Iwata made mistakes, my admiration of him was unshakable. He led Nintendo through one of the most difficult times in their whole history, and in that time he gave himself a pay cut because of the financial problems they were facing. There are CEOs who would gouge out their own eyes before they'd do that. The guy was really passionate about games, and his #1 goal was to bring joy to Nintendo's customers. I truly believe that's the best legacy anyone could ask for.

RIP Iwata, and thanks for all the memories.

Indeed. Since this happened, all platform wars seem to have just disappeared. Even though I fully expect them to eventually reappear, it really reinforces the fact that at the end of the day, we're just people doing what we love.

Actually regarding the original topic. Does anyone know if Mr. Iwata has any public memorial or grave or if that has been kept private? I would be curious if fans have left any flowers or anything at Nintendo HQ in Japan or anything along those lines.

There is one at the Nintendo World store in New York City.

I think there's one at Nintendo's HQ too, but I don't know for certain.
