Breath of the Wild

So as most of you know, I'm a Zelda fan. My preordered copy of Breath of the Wild came in the mail last Friday, and I'd like to take a moment to give my thoughts on it.
So here goes.
*Ahem*
HOLY CRAP!!!
Yeah, that's all I really need to say because Breath of the Wild is freaking incredible. I honest to God think this might be my new favorite game (Sorry, Mario Sunshine).
OK, let's get the obvious out of the way first: My fears about the open world turned out to be completely wrong. It's certainly huge, but there is no shortage of stuff to do. With all the shrines/mini-dungeons/whatever the hell you wanna call them, and an unbelievable amount of sidequests, there is something to find in just about every corner. And I haven't even played through any of the main dungeons yet, which should give you an idea of how much stuff I've already been able to do in game.
And the visuals are some of the best that I have ever seen in a Nintendo game. I'm not even kidding, I gushed about Mario Kart 8's graphics, but Breath of the Wild's make those look like freaking Pong. I genuinely feel like I'm in a real place. And I'm playing the Wii U version, so the Switch version must be even better in that regard!
Yeah, it's kinda hard to go into much detail on why I've taken such a liking to this game, because it's the kind of game that you really just need to play for yourself. But if you have a Wii U or a Switch, I strongly recommend trying this game out. I know I'm not always as good as I should be about not overstating stuff, but I truly believe this to be among Nintendo's best games ever.
