Computers Should Be Easier To Use

Post by Sebastian Lawe »

With the idea that computers should be easier and quicker to use, I've begun working on a program that will allow you to do almost everything from one place.

So far you can play music, movies, open up documents, and search multiple websites from one place, launching your favourite installed programs for viewing or editing each bit of content.

This program works best pinned to the taskbar, or assigned to a shortcut key combination.

Download the alpha client here, and be sure to give feedback.
Works on Windows computer with .net 2.0, and Linux computers with the mono runtime.

My Virus-scanner went off, what did you hide in there? :P

Also, it doesn't seem to do stuff, it just closes without anything happening :(
Nice idea though, I know a couple of people who desperately need something like that! :P
If it's broken, fix it.
If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

The program uses I/O enumeration to get a file list while you type. Some viruses can use that to intentionally corrupt files.

When you type "play", or "open" wait a few moments and start typing again. Now when you press enter the program will close and launch the song or file.

Edit:
I've updated the link and the app. It should give you results without any workarounds now.

Tell Apple to create a GUI editor and I shall. Also, tell them to send me a Macintosh to develop on :P

It's easy to make apps for mac with Xamarin. GUI editor and everything. Can't help you with that mac, though... :P Can't you install it on a Virtual Machine or something?

Not currently, I don't have my main development PC. I've been stuck on a Windows 8 laptop for the time being.
