rap is a kind of broad term when you think about, since it's literally just fast rhyming

a lot of people categorize rhcp's early work as "rap", some people classify it as rock, funk rock, metal rock, alternative rock, etc.

Kept it short because I didn't want video game soundtracks to take up half the chart (they still ended up being 25% of it). Also stuck to one representative album per artist to cut down on redundancy.

Pretty Lights is fantastic.

Pretty cool indeed, although that's not the only song. It's part of an EP, after all.

This song (also from the Clap Your Hands EP) sounds like a bit like Caravan Palace.
Coincidentally it's also my favorite from Clap Your Hands.

Also slightly off topic; I think video game soundtracks could take up an entire thread just by themselves.

That's because they, stage and screen music and occasionally alternative stuff are the only things worth listening to.

nah I'm a complete social shut-in who plays nothing but video games and I love loads of music that isn't vidya music

you should go out for walks (unless you live in the ghetto) while listening to music. Good way to enjoy your music and pretend you're getting healthier

I always enjoy just putting on some playlist or something on my phone and getting out for the morning. During the winter I enjoyed going just after sunrise, but these days that is like, five am, so I am usually just about to wake up.

But yeah, meditation, art, and such. I've gotten into drawing more recently, I bought myself a tablet so I can digital draw. Long stretches of time like that, are best spent with some sort of music, or maybe a podcast or something. Those are nice too :P

This is just one of the many awesome tracks in Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Shamefully, it's become my new favorite VG soundtrack. :P

I've never played it but isn't the soundtrack remixes of the music from DKC2? (my favorite game soundtrack btw)

I'm a total sucker for video game soundtracks too, but I still have a healthy amount of non-VGM in my library.

The secret is to watch a lot of videos, and if you're watching a video and there's music in it that you like, find out what it is, who made it, and from there you can find out whether they make more stuff that you like. Then you find out what genre it is, and then see if you generally like that genre.

It also doesn't help to have some references from other people, either.

I've been into Moving Parts recently, and playing drums myself, I tend to be a little biased towards bands with good musical drummers...
I do like a broad variety or music :D

Actually no. I know people have assumed that because Returns' soundtrack was mainly remixes, but most of TF's soundtrack was composed from scratch. There are a few remixes from DKC2 though.

Actually today I found someone/a group under the name of animusic that create cool musical concepts that would never work IRL.
