I don't think age is much of an issue. I will except that maybe I am a bit bias on that given my age - however I was excepted on nonetheless. Besides that, if someone is a quality poster and positively contributes to discussion then they have a shot at it. No doubt that as schedules fill up more moderators will be added.

Welcome! Mature staff doesn't have to be adult so one does not simply take that for granted.

Maturity though isn't always defined by age. Yeah, a 9 year old is of course less mature than one of say, 13; but surely by 16 you're mature enough to be a moderator on a forum, and from what I've seen he's doing pretty good.
