My First Progstep

Post by Sebastian Lawe »

So, my main niche in terms of writing music is Symphony, and Classical.

However, after much trail and error, and frustration, I have created my first Progressive Dubstep song.

You can check out the song here.

Eh, they seem really repetitive to me. I'm not really a fan of melodies that loop every two or four measures.

I really have found that I like quite a large variety of music, of course their is genres that I am more familiar with - but I really do respect musical artists for whatever it is the create. Great job, Sebastian :) I know I sound like Mr. Positive here but it is really cool to see everything the community is creating!

Yeah, Wazi. I was the one who made that sound, and it's designed to be used in more than one instance.

I've got a third song up for preview. It may be subject to having its transitions smoothed out later on.

A few things your music lacks:
  • Melody: Most of the time I'm just hearing a few chords repeated over and over.
  • Dynamics: Crescendo, diminuendo, etc.
  • Variation: All your pieces are too repetitive, try creating different verses, choruses, and bridges so I don't feel like skipping through the entire song.
You're doing good for someone who's learning though. I want to get a program and try my hand at it when I'm not so busy.
