Can 3ds Images Be Saved On One's Computer?

The reason I ask is because I want to use a picture of my Mii as a new avatar here on OneMoreBlock. Is that possible? If so, how?
I'll leave it up to the mods to decide if this belongs in Technology Talk or Gaming Gossip.

Yes, when you create a QR code you also have the option to generate an image of the said Mii. Then you put the SD card in your computer, and the magical computer fairies tell you that you have plugged a drive in, and wammo.
